Endebess Estate is located in the Northern part of Kenya's Rift Valley near market town of Kitale, set at the foot of Mount Elgon, an extinct shield volcano. In operation since the 1940’s, it is now owned by Kaitet Tea Plantations, which focuses on the welfare of its employees and social responsibility. The farm has financed over 15 housing renovations, sponsored multiple stu- dents and hopes to build on its social responsibility programs. - InterAmerican

On paper, the Endebess Estate sounds remarkably familiar: a privately-owned plantation in operation since the 40’s that changed hands and turned its sights toward specialty coffee. Familiar, that is, until you realize it’s located in Kenya and not in Latin America. Though the story sounds familiar, there is little familiarity in the cup, as it presents quite a unique spectrum of flavor across brew methods. Tart berries and grapefruit play with sweet cream and fresh bread, underlined by milk chocolate and a suprisingly pleasant mix of tomato, sweet pepper, and tangy greens. - Boomtown
