Saturday Afternoon Tasting | 4:30pm

  • Boomtown Coffee 242 West 19th Street Houston, TX, 77008 United States (map)

Join Boomtown barista Raquel Vazquez as she takes you through a guided tasting of one of our monthly featured coffees: the Kenyan Nyeri Kieni Peaberry.  The tasting will begin with an iced Chemex, fresh and delicate, followed by a hot Chemex pourover to showcase the broader spectrum of flavor in the coffee.  She will follow this with a classic pull of espresso to intensify the beans' flavor before mellowing it out with a cappuccino.  The final beverage of the tasting will highlight the nuanced acidity, sweetness, and aroma of the coffee through a mix of fresh squeezed pomelo, local honey, and a smoked blend of dried citrus, jasmine, orange blossom, and honeysuckle, garnished with candied pomelo.

This ticket is good for the reservation of one seat at the tasting. More information below.

How much does the tasting cost?  Tasting cost is $40.00 per person (including sales tax), payable online upon registration for the event.  A tasting reservation also gets you 25% off of all retail coffee purchases (4 bags maximum per customer) and 10% off select retail merchandise.  Ticket cost is refundable if cancelled 24 hours in advance; see refund policy below.

Where does the tasting take place?  The tasting will take place at the bar within Boomtown Coffee, towards the rear of our cafe.  Due to the nature of the presentation, it cannot be moved to another location within our space.

Can I bring friends? As long as your friend has also reserved a seat!  Our bar can only comfortably accommodate four guests, so please make a reservation for as many seats as you plan to fill.  If you would like to book the event for more than four people, contact us at info@boomtowncoffee.com, and we can discuss special arrangements.

When should I get there?  It would be a big help if everyone is in a seat to allow the event to begin promptly at its starting time, so please arrive when you feel comfortable to allow the event to begin as scheduled.  If you are too late you may miss the beginning of the presentation, and no one wants that.

How long will the event last? The event will last up to 45 minutes, but guests are invited to sit and enjoy their coffee after the event until the bar needs to be available for a following event or we need to close down the shop.

Can you accommodate guests in a wheelchair?  Yes!  We can accommodate a single guest in a wheelchair if needed, and we ask that you give us advance notice if you or a companion will be in a wheelchair to be able to prepare appropriately.

Will there be any food at the tasting? Individual presentations may include some small bites, but don't anticipate anything filling or meal-worthy.  We recommend planning to eat either before or after the tasting, as certain foods can greatly affect the tasting experience.

Refund Policy  Tickets are eligible for full refund if cancelled at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled event time.  Refund for cancellations the day of the event may include cancellation fees, and we cannot offer refunds for no-shows after the event.
