In Kochere, close to Rego Village and under the benevolent gaze of Reko Mountain lies the Reko Koba mill. “Reko” translates literally to difficult or challenging, referring to the arduous climb up the mountain, also referred to as Prayer Mountain due to the local practice of climbing it for religious purposes. It is here that 90+ workers walk daily to pursue their manual labor with smiles on their faces and a song on their lips. -Catalyst Coffee

The first thing you might notice about this coffee is the varietal listing. While the names may be unfamiliar, chances are you might have had them before under the ambiguous varietal “heirloom,” a moniker given to many native coffee varieties in Ethiopia. The Karume is a smaller, denser bean, and the Tulenge, which literally means “large bean,” has many of the hallmarks of a Geisha. The cup is similar to many of the Ethiopian naturals we roast, but along with peaches and berries there are savory, almost peppery notes to balance out the sweetness. - Boomtown
